Steps to Forgiveness

A friend, J, called me a bit ago wanting to “confess to a praying person.” J had lied to the employer, although the lie made no material difference. It was a matter of conscience only. Nonetheless, J felt bad and immediately apologized to God. The call to me was to make sure J was forgiven.

We talked and went over the situation and discovered that two new areas had been opened up for communication with the boss. Except for that internal lie, J had actually done quite well in handling the situation. Now full communication would set things up nicely for everyone in the future.

A while after hanging up, I texted my realization. The Beatitudes had been followed once again. J realized the sin (poor in spirit), confessed it with true repentance (mourn), and wanted to make sure it never happened again (meek). It was now J’s duty and privilege to accept the forgiveness of the Father and the Son that had been bought and paid for 2000 years ago (hunger and thirst).

Follow the steps! Live in His grace!
