About
Royal Lyon has been a long standing nickname I have used for business and correspondence. Years ago I saw a painting of a lion in a children's book who looked both kind and noble. That is when I came up with the name and have been adapting that picture ever since.
That's not my only name. My students know me as Mr. Ed. I was a teacher, dean, and principal in high school for 20 years, then decided to get out of the textbook ABC 123 factory. Along the way I figured out the fundamental patterns of arithmetic and algebra. That is what you see in the math section.
I also started backpacking and winter skiing. Thousands of miles on trails (the Pacific Crest is my favorite) and off. 1000 miles on backcountry skis--Oregon top to bottom, and then some! That is where my trail name, Cheers, comes from. My blog is nature intensive.
My story is elsewhere on this website, and it describes my abandonment of God and religion, then my conversion back to Him. God is real and He is my Father! That is my grateful experience every day. Unfolding those experiences, especially in nature, is recorded in the blog. Deeper dives are in the writing section. A systematic approach to God, good, and evil is the subject of the Seven Pillars Project.
